URCA Notice: May 1st Advanced Polling

In light of the scheduled Advanced Poll of voters on May 1, 2012, broadcast licensees are cautioned that where the Content Regulations prohibit the discussion of voting results, purported voting results and results of any opinion polls on polling day until the close of the polls, the applicable polling day is May 7th, the day of General Elections. Content Codes: Addendum of Errors, Omissions and Corrections

UPDATED RELEASE APRIL 19, 2012 URCA today publishes an “Addendum of Errors, Omissions and Corrections” in a revised version of the final decision on the Content Codes issued March 2, 2012. Among the deletions and corrections, is the deletion of the definition for “major political party” and clarification on broadcasting restrictions for advertisements and sponsorships for alcohol. All revisions are detailed in the above captioned section of the revised Code. URCA Assesses Stakeholder Readiness to Meet Universal Service Obligations

On March 30, 2012, the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) initiated engagement with designated Universal Service Providers (USP), to assess their current provision of specified universal services, as prescribed by the Communications Act 2009 (The Act). URCA also issued a consultative document for broader public consultation on the scope and implementation of existing universal service obligations (USO).
