Electronic communications as described in the Communications Act, 2009, refers to “the conveyance by the use of electrical, magnetic or electromagnetic energy, of signals of any description”; and the electronic communications sector (ECS) as “the economic sector encompassing the provision of all electronic communications, including broadcasting”.

The Government of the Bahamas, in its National Energy Policy 2013-2033, sets forth the following strategic goals, among other things, for the Electricity Sector – to foster dynamic and appropriate governance, institutional, legal and regulatory framework in the energy sector, to build a modern energy infrastructure that enhances generation capacity and safely, reliably and affordably distributes electricity to consumers on a sustainable basis, and to promote the availability of sustainable energy opportunities.
