In this consultation document, the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (“URCA”) provides a rationale for a National Alert Warning System (NAWS) in The Bahamas and sets out the Draft Regulations for a NAWS. URCA invites and welcomes written submissions and comments from interested parties, including members of the public and licensees, with sufficient interest in the subject matter of this Consultation Document. The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) has today published the Initial Responses received to its Preliminary Determination Retail Cellular Mobile Market Review and Assessment under Section 39(1) and (2) of the Communications Act, 2009 (ECS 01/2022). In keeping with Section 1.3 of the Preliminary Determination, URCA invites interested parties to submit written comments the same. Comments on the Responses should be submitted to URCA by 5 p.m. on 26 May 2022. The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (“URCA”) is pleased to publish its Draft Annual Plan and Budget for 2022 (URCA/2022). This document outlines:- A brief review of URCA’s achievements in 2021:
- URCA’s focus areas and key priorities for 2022;
- URCA’s key projects for 2022, including its planned consultation schedule for the year;
- A series of the key performance indicators which URCA shall use to measure its performance during the year; and
- URCA’s budget for the upcoming financial year.
- All submissions to this consultation should be submitted by 5pm on 4 February 2022;
- URCA endeavours to publish these responses by 5pm on 25 February 2022; and,
- Comments on the responses published in step 2 may be submitted 18 March 2022; and,
- URCA intends to publish the final version of its annual plan by 30 April 2022.

ES 05/2019 Guidelines for the Approval of Renewable Energy Self-Generation Projects Small Commercial and Government Consultation Document
The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA), pursuant to Part V of the Electricity Act, 2015 (EA), is empowered to provide guidelines for the approval of Renewable Energy Self-Generation (RESG) projects. In so doing, URCA must have due regard to the Government’s National Energy Policy (NEP) and Electricity Sector Policy (ESP) objectives, whilst ensuring that the rules and established processes are consistent with applicable legislation. The legal framework for the EA places upon URCA the responsibility to take such action as it may deem necessary to ensure the availability, security, and reliability of Renewable Energy (RE) consistent with the NEP. This document sets out for consultation with interested stakeholders proposed Guidelines for the approval by URCA of RESG projects advanced by the Government and small-scale business or commercial enterprises, as provided for in s 28 of the EA. - 21 Dec,2018
