Today the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) published a consultation paper on BTC’s proposed charging for interconnection joining services. This document reviews and seeks comments from stakeholders and interested parties on the main joining service charges specified in BTC’s draft Final RAIO submitted to URCA on 23 February 2011. Where appropriate, URCA has also set out its proposed amendments to the charges contained in BTC’s draft Final RAIO. The Utilities Regulation & Competition Authority (URCA) hereby advises the public of the following investigations commenced by URCA which are currently ongoing regarding allegations of anticompetitive conduct: (i) Complaint by Systems Resource Group Limited (SRG) regarding toll free calls offered to the Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited’s (BTC) fixed line subscribers when dialing ViBe numbers. (ii) Complaint by SRG alleging a margin squeeze by BTC with respect to BTC’s interconnection/ wholesale domestic long distance termination charge and BTC’s retail ViBe offerings.
