Cyber Safety Forum Provides Extensive Insight

Under the theme, Using Social Media for Good. How You can Protect Yourself Online, last evening’s Cyber Safety Forum was spearheaded by communications specialist, Kyle Walkine, one of two youth sponsored by URCA to attend last year’s International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Global Youth Summit which took place in Costa Rica, last September. URCA Holiday Hours

URCA will be closed Tuesday December 24, 2013 to Friday December 27, 2013, reopening on Monday December 30, 2013 for normal business hours. URCA will however close half day on Tuesday December 31 2013, reopening on Thursday January 2, 2014, for usual business operations.

Number Portability Start Delayed

The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) announces that number portability for fixed telephone lines in The Bahamas will not become available on September 3, 2013 as projected. Based on its latest technical reviews of operator readiness for fixed number portability implementation, URCA is not satisfied that consumers would at this time receive a seamless and satisfactory number porting experience. URCA expects to issue a final determination on the matter before the end of September, at which time a revised time line for the implementation of fixed number portability in The Bahamas will be outlined.
