Today, URCA issued a NOTICE OF EXTENSION for responses to the Public Consultation Document "The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Guidelines – [ECS 02/2014] issued March 24, 2014 after URCA received requests from key industry stakeholders for URCA to consider an extension to its deadline of May 2, 2014 as stipulated in the document. URCA has, therefore, extended the deadline and will now consider all responses from interested parties on the Public Consultation Document that are received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. URCA hereby notifies the public that, in exercise of its powers under section 9 of the Communications Act, 2009, it has commenced an investigation into the network outage experienced by The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited (BTC) on March 22, 2014. Accordingly, BTC is required to submit to URCA, on or before April 4, 2014, a full report in relation to the network outage, inclusive of a proposal for compensation to consumers affected by the outage. The Utilities Regulation & Competition Authority (URCA) has extended the deadline to respond to the public consultation “Proposed Review and Revision to the Regulation of Retail Prices for SMP Operators – Rules” [URCA document reference ECS 16/2013], by four weeks. The deadline has been revised from December 6, 2013 to January 3, 2014.
