The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (“URCA”), today issued its Statement of Results and Final Decision (ECS 41/2016) along with the finalised text of the Quality of Service Regulations, ECS 42/2016 (the “QoS Regulations”). The Regulations are applicable to holders of Individual Operating Licences (IOLs) that provide fixed or fixed wireless telephony services, cellular mobile voice and data services, and internet services, including both legacy services and next-generation services. The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) today issues the Consultation Document “Regulatory Fees for the Electricity Sector in The Bahamas” (ES 05/2016), which explains URCA’s methodology for setting fees and states what fees will be for 2017 in respect of matters subject to URCA’s regulatory jurisdiction under the Electricity Act, 2015 (EA). URCA Publishes Preliminary Determination on BPL’s Small-Scale Renewable Generation Plan

Today the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority, (URCA) published an Initial Decision and Preliminary Determination on the Bahamas Power & Light’s (BPL) Small-Scale Renewable Generation Plan. This document sets out URCA’s proposed revision of BPL’s Small-Scale Renewable Generation Plan for residents and businesses interested in the sale, installation and use of solar panels for the generation of electricity. URCA Publishes Draft Consultation Procedures Guidelines for Public Comment

The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) today published its Draft Consultation Procedure Guidelines (URCA 01/2016) setting out the manner in which stakeholders in the sectors it regulates and the community may comment on regulatory and public policy matters that URCA addresses. The consultation will be open for comments until 25 November 2016 during which period comments may be submitted to URCA.
