15 July 2020 For Immediate Release On 15 July 2020 the Utilities Regulation and Competition, URCA, published its Procurement Regulations for Electricity Licensees, 2020.  These Regulations are issued in pursuance of URCA’s obligations under the Electricity Act, 2015 specifically section 38 (1)(c). The Procurement Regulations is in keeping with the objectives underpinning the National Energy and Electricity Sector Policies one of which is to ensure reasonable costs to electricity consumers.  Procurement is one of the major elements of licensees’ costs. 10 June 2020 URCA issues Addendum to Final Determination titled “Wholesale Fixed and Mobile Termination Rates for SMP Licensees” (ECS 74/2019) Today, the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (“URCA”) issues an Addendum to its 24 December 2019 Final Determination on “Wholesale Fixed and Mobile Termination Rates for SMP Licensees” in The Bahamas. The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority, URCA, is required by law (s.41(1)) to prepare and publish annually a report on its performance for the previous year.  This report is to include a financial report comparing budgeted and actual revenue and expenditure, summary of key performance indicators and summary of the organizations activities whether planned or unplanned.
