Nassau, The Bahamas — The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) has issued a Public Notice reminding broadcast licensees of their obligations under the Revised Code of Practice for Content Regulation – ECS 78/2024 ahead of the General Election on 12 May 2026.
Issued under section 8(1)(e) of the Communications Act, 2009, the notice outlines key requirements that apply throughout the election period to political broadcasts, political advertisements, news and current affairs programming, and certain online content where the licensee maintains editorial control.
URCA highlights rules relating to polling day restrictions, candidate appearances, identification of political content, balanced reporting, election opinion surveys, and compliance for online content under editorial control.
