URCA Issues Preliminary Determination, Content Regulation

Today March 27, 2012, the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) releases for public consultation its Preliminary Determination and Draft Order, for the application of the Code of Practice for Content Regulation to Carriage Services, Content Services and On-Demand Audiovisual Media Services and the application of Must Carry Obligations to Content Services Intended for Reception by Subscribers of Carriage Services in The Bahamas. This Preliminary Determination gives notice that URCA proposes to issue a Final Determination.

On March 2, 2012 URCA published its Statement of Results and Final Decision on the widely consulted Code of Practice for the Regulation of Content Services and Audiovisual Media Services. The Code establishes regulatory rules for broadcasting content provided by Licensees in audiovisual media services in The Bahamas.
