The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) has issued a public notice regarding a proposed change in control of New Providence Gas Ltd. (NPG), pursuant to section 92 of the Natural Gas Act, 2024.
URCA received a notification on 9 April 2026 from Sun Oil Holdings Limited and Shell Bahamas Power Company Inc. concerning a transaction under which Shell Bahamas Power Company Inc. would acquire a 40% equity interest in NPG, with Sun Oil Holdings Limited retaining a 60% interest.
As part of its regulatory process, URCA is inviting interested persons to submit written representations on whether the proposed transaction is likely to substantially lessen competition in The Bahamas or be contrary to the public interest. Public input will form part of URCA’s consideration as it carries out its responsibilities as the independent regulator for the natural gas sector.
Written submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on 15 May 2026 and may be delivered by hand to URCA’s office at Frederick House, Frederick Street.
