The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority’s (URCA) has launched the public consultation on the St. George’s Cay Power Company (SGCPC) Renewable Energy Plan (REP).
It outlines SGCPC’s proposed strategy for integrating renewable energy into its generation mix by 2027 in accordance with the relevant laws and policies. This includes projected renewable generation capacity, implementation timelines, and compliance with URCA’s regulatory framework for energy sector participants. The consultation process allows stakeholders – including licensees, industry participants, and members of the public – to review the plan, provide comments, and suggest changes before URCA makes a final determination.
The consultation formally opened on 15 August 2025. All responses must be submitted in writing to URCA no later than 5:00 p.m. on 07 November 2025. Submissions should be sent via email to URCA at info@urcabahamas.bs in line with the instructions in the document. URCA will review all feedback and publish a decision document summarizing stakeholder input and its final position.
