URCA publishes Preliminary Position on Net Neutrality and OTT Services

The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) has today published a Consultation Document under the caption URCA’s Preliminary Position on Net Neutrality and OTT Services in The Bahamas.  The Consultation Document is listed as ECS 03/2018.

The objectives of this public consultation on URCA’s preliminary position on net neutrality and OTT services in The Bahamas are to:

  1. set out and provide its analysis on the regulatory treatment of Net Neutrality and OTT services in other jurisdictions;
  2. outline its preliminary thinking on Net Neutrality and OTT services in The Bahamas;
  3. state the regulatory measures URCA proposes to adopt in relation to Net Neutrality and OTT services; and
  4. solicit written comments and suggestions from the wider public and stakeholders on URCA’s preliminary position.

URCA encourages all interested parties to make written submissions on the consultation.  Initial responses to this Consultation Document should be submitted to URCA by 5 p.m. on 14 May 2018.
