URCA is seeking to attract a highly qualified and motivated individual to fill the role of
an Information Governance Analyst.
PROFILE & JOB DUTIES:
The Information Governance Analyst plays a foundational role in building URCA’s Data Governance &
Information Management (DGIM) function. The position ensures that URCA’s information—both digital and physical—is structured, compliant, well-classified, protected, and managed across its full lifecycle.
Unlike a traditional data analyst role that focuses on dashboards and metrics, this position establishes the
governance foundation required before advanced analytics can be effective. The role sits at the intersection of records management, information compliance, metadata governance, privacy, and data governance, supporting URCA’s move toward higher information maturity.
The Analyst develops and implements the policies, standards, workflows, metadata structures, and practices necessary to stabilize URCA’s information environment and ensure consistency, compliance, and long-term reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Information Governance & Compliance
Implement and monitor compliance with information governance, retention, privacy, and access
control policies.
Establish and enforce consistent practices for creating, classifying, storing, accessing, transferring, and
disposing of information.
Work with IT and Legal to ensure governance standards support regulatory and statutory
requirements.
Records & Information Lifecycle Management
Maintain the Records Disposal Register and ensure documentation aligns with retention schedules.
Lead digitisation of physical records and implementation of document metadata structures,
classification schemes, and lifecycle management.
Work with departments to streamline and automate document workflows, metadata tagging, and
version control.
Ensure preservation of vital records and institutional memory to support business continuity.
DGIM Systems Support
Create and maintain organization-wide tools related to data quality, data catalogs, protection
protocols, and content management.
Collaborate with IT to evaluate, implement, and manage DGIM software solutions.
Monitor industry developments and regulatory changes relevant to data management, privacy, and
information governance.
Provide support, guidance, and solutions for day-to-day DGIM queries.
Data & Metadata Governance
Develop tools and monitoring mechanisms to assess compliance with data governance policies,
standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
Maintain metadata standards and naming conventions across the organisation.
Coordinate training and awareness initiatives to strengthen organisational adoption of data
governance practices.
Performs regular data quality reviews and information management audits across departments.
Governance Framework & Continuous Improvement
Support ongoing refinement of the DGIM Framework, policies, standards, and procedures.
Contribute to DGIM projects, audits, and compliance monitoring activities.
Assist in tracking governance metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data/Information Science, Computer Science, Library
Science, Records Management, Business, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in information governance, records management, document
management, data governance, compliance, IT, or related roles.
Preferred
Experience with DocuWare, SharePoint, or similar enterprise content management platforms.
Working knowledge of information lifecycle management, retention schedules, classification schemes,
metadata standards, and governance frameworks.
Understanding of privacy, legal, compliance, and regulatory aspects of information governance.
Beginner to intermediate data analysis or data structuring skills (Excel, data cleaning, dashboards).
Certifications in records management, information governance, data governance, or data protection
would be an advantage.
