Type Approval, Exempt Radio Spectrum Devices

On January 23, 2013, The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) published “Guidelines for the Type Approval of Licence-Exempt Radio Spectrum Devices”, pursuant to the exemption provision contained in Section 17 of the Communications Act, 2009. The guidelines are intended to supplement ECS 24/2009 Annex G, issued 2 November 2009. The Type Approval process established by these Guidelines is applicable to radio spectrum devices not requiring electronic communications service or networks and is intended to verify that the device complies with standards adopted by URCA.
