Electronic Communications Sector (ECS) Policy 2024-2027

The latest Electronic Communications Sector (ECS) Policy outlines the strategic aims and objectives that will guide the development of the electronic communications sector in The Bahamas.

The ECS Policy, published in the Official Gazette on October 21, 2024, reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a modern, inclusive, and robust information and communications technology (ICT) ecosystem.

The policy is central to achieving equitable and sustainable economic and social growth throughout the nation.

The policy provides a comprehensive framework that will inform URCA’s regulatory responsibilities under the Communications Act, 2009.

It aligns with the government’s broader vision for sustainable national development and its dedication to ensuring that all residents of The Bahamas benefit from innovative and accessible ICT solutions.

URCA, as the independent regulator, will play a pivotal role in implementing the objectives of the ECS Policy to ensure that the sector develops in a manner consistent with the strategic goals set by the government.
